Artist Residency
Summer 2026
During my residency at Lotherton Hall, I am exploring new mediums to challenge and expand my painting practice. Working beyond oils and gouache helps me see differently, loosen my approach, and become more intentional with each brushstroke.
In the house, I’m inspired by its layered history the people who lived and worked there, the stories held in each room, and the traces left behind. I’m experimenting with overlapping motifs, shifting perspectives, and a balance between abstraction and sharply focused detail.
In the gardens, my focus shifts to stillness and subtlety. I’m developing a softer, more muted palette that reflects dormancy and quiet life beneath the surface, while introducing native wildlife as gentle narrative elements.
This residency is an opportunity to rethink how I see, how I paint, and how history and landscape can shape the work that emerges.
