Course 1- Portrait in oil paints

This course is more about oil paint application and the benefits of working in oils, rather than the process of sketching.  

Day one begins with gridding a pre primed aluminium panel and drafting a portrait. Using acrylic paint (used to speed up the drying process) the grisaille technique is applied.

Day two using oil paints layers of thin paint is applied building up skin tones. The workshop will begin each day with a demonstration from Dawn who will be on hand to guide you through the full process.

All equipment, paint are provided all you need to do is turn up!

If you book for a Friday you will have booked two days - Friday and Saturday

If you book for a Sunday you will have booked for two days - Sunday and Monday 10am till 3pm

Course 2 - Drawing

Meet like minded people who also have a passion for creating. 

This one day course is about getting back to basics in how to create accurate drawings of anything, be it landscape, still life or portrait. Without the ability to accurately replicate reality your paintings, will always lack a sound structure.

Over the day we will begin with mark making using different dry medium, and look at construction, hatching, form and composition. We will work towards a finished still life. All equipment provided, all you need to do is turn up!

This course is a one day course for either a Saturday or a Sunday 10am till 3pm

Course 3 - Still Life oil paints

Meet like minded people who also have a passion for painting while learning new oil painting techniques, by Dawn Blatherwick. On this course you will be creating a still life in oil paints.  

Day one begins with the sketching out of the still life looking at composition and form a monochromatic base painting is applied.

Day two using oil paints in colour the painting will evolve as you slowly add layers of paint to create a still life.

All equipment, paint are provided all you need to do is turn up!

If you book for a Friday you will have booked two days - Friday and Saturday

If you book for a Sunday you will have booked for two days - Sunday and Monday 10am - 3pm

Course 4 - Landscape Sketching

So what makes a good Landscape painting? Looking at composition and form and discussing how to initially find the best angle or subject matter to create a landscape painting. Weather permitting, we will be sketching outside the fabulous Queen Mill on the River Aire. 

Day one begins with the sketching around the grounds of the Mill perhaps on the bridge, or wherever your eye takes you. A reference photograph will be taken by Dawn for you to begin your work back indoors. This will give you the opportunity to work out the best composition. All equipment, paint are provided all you need to do is turn up!

 

This course is for either a Saturday or a Sunday 10am till 3pm
